Five different models, three different problems
AU tutoring platforms fall into roughly three groups:
- Managed platforms (Cluey, Tutero, KIS Academics): you tell them what you need, they match a tutor, they handle bookings and payments. Highest convenience, highest cost per hour. Best for parents who don't have time to interview tutors.
- Curated marketplaces (Learnmate): you choose the tutor from a curated list, the platform vets the supply. Medium convenience, medium cost. Best balance for most families.
- Open marketplaces / directories (Superprof, Tutorfinder): you choose the tutor from a large open list with minimal vetting. Lowest convenience, lowest cost. Best for families willing to interview 3–5 tutors and absorb the vetting work themselves.
