Read this if you plan to rely on anything on this site. Short version: we publish independent editorial; we are not advisors; we are not a tutoring agency.
1. We are not a tutoring agency
Tutoring.net.au does not introduce students to tutors, manage bookings, collect payments on behalf of tutors, hold or vet tutor identification, or accept any commercial responsibility for any tutor-student relationship. We publish rate analysis, scaling explainers, and platform reviews. We send you to the platforms (e.g., platform reviews) when you are ready to book; what happens there is between you and them.
2. Editorial, not personal advice
Information published on Tutoring.net.au is general consumer-pricing analysis. It is not personal financial advice, not career counselling, and not a substitute for talking to your school's careers advisor, your tutor, or your kid's teacher.
3. ATAR and scaling data
ATAR scaling figures are sourced directly from UAC (NSW), VTAC (VIC), QTAC (QLD), TISC (WA), and SATAC (SA/NT) annual scaling reports. We cite the official reports on every page that uses them. Scaling is recalculated each year — last year's numbers are not a perfect predictor of next year's. Do not rely on a single year's scaling pattern for irreversible subject selection without talking to your school.
4. Rate data
Tutor hourly rate ranges published on this site come from a combination of (a) aggregate reports published by the platforms themselves, (b) ASX disclosures of listed tutoring companies, (c) ABS data on household tutoring expenditure, and (d) where applicable, voluntary tutor submissions to our rate survey. We do not scrape individual tutor profile data from any platform. Every rate figure on this site cites the original published source.
5. Affiliate disclosure
Some platform review pages include links to the platforms reviewed. Where those links are affiliate links (we earn a small commission if you sign up after clicking), we disclose it on each page in italic text near the link, and again in our about page. Affiliate links never change our editorial assessment of a platform. We say what we think.
6. Copyright
All editorial content (writing, analysis, calculator code, page layout) is copyright Tutoring.net.au. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link back. You may not republish full articles or redistribute the calculators without written permission.
Quoted source data (UAC/VTAC/QTAC/TISC/SATAC scaling figures, ABS data, platform published aggregates) remains the property of its original publisher and is used here under fair-dealing / research-and-criticism provisions of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).
7. No warranty
We make a serious effort to be accurate. We are not infallible. If you find an error, please tell us — we will correct it visibly. We do not warrant that this site is error-free, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
8. Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Australian law and the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia.
