Privacy policy
This page explains what data Tutoring.net.au collects, why, and how to opt out. Plain English, no legalese performance.
1. What we collect
We collect three categories of data:
- Page-view analytics via our own internal collector (scout-analytics) and Google Analytics 4. This includes the page URL, referrer, screen size, country (not city), and an anonymous session ID. It does not include your name, IP address (raw), or personal identifiers.
- Form submissions. If you submit a tutor rate, contact us, or use any other form, we store what you submit so we can read it. Forms are processed by Netlify Forms.
- Advertising cookies via Google AdSense, if you have consented to them. AdSense uses cookies to serve you relevant advertising.
2. What we do not collect
- We do not require accounts. There are no logins.
- We do not track tutor inventory from other platforms. Rate data on this site comes from published aggregates with attribution.
- We do not sell, license, or transfer your personal data.
- We do not use tracking pixels on email (we do not run email marketing).
3. Cookies and opt-out
If you do not want Google AdSense to use cookies to serve personalised ads, you can manage ads settings at Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Disabling cookies entirely is supported by all modern browsers.
4. Data retention
Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted. Form submissions are retained for 12 months or until you ask us to delete them, whichever is sooner.
5. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted. Email us at hello@tutoring.net.au with the subject line "privacy request".
6. Children
Although Tutoring.net.au covers content relevant to students (including under-18s), this site is intended for use by parents, guardians, and adult students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
7. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will note the change at the top of the page and update the "Last updated" date below.
