Subject side-by-side comparison
Pick any 2 senior secondary subjects — within the same state or across states — and see how they compare on scaling distribution, candidature size, and typical tutor rate. Verified 2024 figures.
Pick two subjects to compare.
How to read the comparison
- Scaled mean: the average scaled mark for the subject's candidature. Higher = candidature performed better across all their subjects (on average). Not a measure of "how hard the subject is".
- Scale max: NSW + VIC use 0–50; QLD + WA use 0–100. Do not compare scaled means across different scales directly — the comparison tool shows percent-of-scale for cross-state comparison.
- Tutor rate uplift: subject-complexity classification from our rate intelligence — Specialist Maths / Maths Extension 2 / similar carry a 20-25% premium because the qualified-tutor supply is thin.
Caveat for cross-state
The same nominal subject scales differently in each state because each state's TAC computes scaling against its own candidature. "Mathematical Methods" in VIC and QLD are scored on different scales (50-max vs 100-max). When comparing across states, percent-of-scale and candidature size are more meaningful than the raw scaled mean.
